Guide Updates: Tempest Keep - The Eye

Rikto | January 28, 2008

Well, another update, this time for the Eye in Tempest Keep: we have guides for both Al’ar, the Phoenix god, and Void Reaver, AKA Loot Reaver.

Al’ar Guide - Al’ar is the first boss within the Eye of Tempest Keep. This is basically Kael’thas’ pet phoenix, much like he was capable of summoning in the Warcraft III game, should you have played that.

Void Reaver Guide - Although strictly speaking this is the second boss of the Eye, in all truth you can easily skip by the previous boss, Al’ar, and first take down this guy who is aptly named loot reaver.

Downtime

Rikto | January 14, 2008

Well, just here to apologize for the rather frequent downtimes GotWarcraft has been experiencing recently.  The main problem as we’ve discovered is simply… too much traffic, or rather, our servers can’t handle the current load of surging visitors.  Therefore I’ve been working the problem out with our hosting service and hope to get back to a stable level of maintained uptime soon.

Thanks.

Having Gruul for Dinner

Rikto | January 10, 2008

Well, updating the whole Polyphasic sleep schedule deal and… how should I explain this… time seems to pass in an amazingly sloth-like manner now.

I’ve kept it up for a bit of time now and I can already feel the effects, meaning, my body is adapting for certain as the naps become easier to fall asleep and awaken on time, yet I’m also finding it exceedingly difficult to maintain consciousness throughout the night, around the 1-5 AM period.

You wouldn’t believe how odd it is to drift off mid-writing and begin dreaming while still moving around in the otherwise waking world.

An example would be finding my keyboard suddenly animated as if possessed by an artificial intelligence while I punch in the button to update the website is… a unique experience at the very least.

Regardless, forging onward, and so on, look for more updates as to this process in a few days or so, maybe after football on Saturday.

Other than that, I’ve somehow managed to avoid writing anything whatsoever related to the actual title of this post, as in I’ve posted up a Gruul the Dragonkiller Guide to GotWarcraft, so without further ado here is the Gruul Guide.

Road to Glory: Polyphasic Sleeping and Gaming Greatness

Rikto | January 7, 2008

Well, simply judging from the title I’m certain that you can at least hedge a guess as to what this post is about. Should you not then let me inform you of a singularly powerful and unique method of attaining gaming greatness and more - Polyphasic Sleeping.

For those of you not yet in the know, Polyphasic sleeping is the practice of taking numerous naps of everywhere from 15-45 minutes of sleep, dependent upon the system followed, in place of the one large chunk of sleep that people usually utilize within their routine, called Monophasic sleeping.

The overall return, should you manage to master this seemingly impossible regimen, is apparently almost the holy grail for those like myself who dislike sleeping: the ability to gain all the benefits of the seven-eight hour sleep period within a period of three to four hours of naps spread throughout the day.

Now that I’ve explained that, here’s a link for more information should you so desire from Wikipedia. Allow me to inform you of why this benefits gamers like myself. To some this would be obvious, others, perhaps not so much. Regardless, this schedule effectively allows for (following my designated sleeping pattern for this test) twenty-one hours of wakefulness and activity with just three-hours of sleep, sounds beautiful.

Of course I’ve also heard of a few problems concerning this, the primary one being the almost impossible adaptation period, the state of zombification lasting between one to two weeks or so. Beyond that, it separates you from normal society given your odd sleeping habits as compared to almost all others, that is of course unless you and friends/family also participate, but that’s very unlikely.

So, essentially, risking ridicule from all who know me and possibly setting myself up for Spartan pain camp, I, Madgan, am from this point onward attempting to master the Polyphasic sleeping regimen.

Well, wish me luck. Should I succeed I guess I’ll be enjoying that many more hours of gaming and so on, and I should also update Gotwarcraft more often.
